Facility: United Nuclear Corporation - Naval Products Unuasville, Connecticut CN 70-371
Subject:
ECMB THREAT At approximately 7:45 p.m., March 15, 1981, UNC Naval Products received a phone call from an unidentified male who stated "There is going to be a bcmb going off at 12:00 p.m. tonight - that's all I can say, beware." A cursory search of plant internal and external areas was completed by the Security Organi;:ation at 10:00 p.m.
No plant production personnel wera on site. At 10:00 p.m. the licensee's " Crisis Management Committee" was formed on site.
Based on the results of a detailed search, the site was declared a " safe area" and normal plant operations resumed at 3:50 a.m., March 16, 1981.
The IAT has been notified. The Connecticut State Police was notified and responded to the site. The licensee will notify the FBI. The State of Connecticut will be notified.
This preliminary notification is issued for information and no further action by IE is anticipated.
No press release is planned by the licensee or NRC at this time.
