SUBJECT:

SECY-81-125 - APPROVAL OFi PROPOSED LICENSE TO EXPORT HIGH-ENRICHEDURANIUMTOCAsfDn (APPLICATION XSNM31355)

This is to advise you that the Cocnissioners have reviewed the subject license to Transnuclear, Incorporated. The Co.nission (with all Cocnissioners approving) has accepted your recomendation to export to Canada 101 kilograms of uranium, enriched to 93.3% U-235, in the forra of uranium metal.

In connection with his approval, Comissioner Gilinsky has provided the following statement:

"I urge that the shift to 20% fuel be made as soon as possible.

I would like to be kept inforced of progress in this direction."

The Office of International Programs was inforced of this action by telephone on March 9, 1981.
