Dear Mr. Denton:
This is to inform you of a cnange to the schecule for completion of the Zion probabilistic risk assessment stucy.
The report on tnis stucy will not ce available on March 26 as was previously plannea.
Detailed reports (8,000 to 10,000 pages) on Doth studies are being prepared.
Completion of tnis work is taking icnger than expectec.
We realize that good documentation of these studies is important to review oy the NRC Staff.
The sc nedule is therefore being extended to permit completion of the ftl1 reports.
Considerable resources nave been devoted to the Zion probabilistic risk assessment.
We expect this work to be of lasting significance so extra efforts are ceing mace to assure the completeness and correctness of the report.
An inaepenaent technical review of the contractors' reports is being conouctea and a fell review is oeing.1one by Commonwealth Edison.
l Allowing fo: completion of the cetailea documentation anc technical reviews,.ne Zion report is now expected to be availaole in June, 1980.
