Deter =ine whether your facility utilizes or plans to utilize electrical connector assemblies of the type tested by Sandia Laboratories, or any other similar type, in systems that are located inside (or outside) contain-
=ent, are sub, ject to a LOCA environment and are required to be operable during a LOCA (or are required to function to mitigate an accident where the accident itself could adversely affect the ability of the syste= to perfor= its safety function).
Response
1.
A thorough review of all pin and socket connectors for safety-related syste=s inside and outside of containment was conducted at Big Rock Point.
The results of this review indicated that none of the connector types cited in IE Sulletins 77-05 and 77-05A are utilized. Further it is important to note that the plant can be safely shut devn during LOCA (assuming 10 CFR 50.h6 and Appendix K conditions) without relying on any system that utilices pin and socket type connectors regardless of type.
