ATTACEMENT A l
s o
Action to be taken by Licensees and Permit Holders:
1.
Action:
If you have been notified of the potential problem, describe the actions taken regarding corrective measures to identify and resolve any setpoint drift problems with the ITE time delay relays.
1
Response
ITE time delay relays are not used at Connecticut Yankee, therefore, Item 1 above is not applicable.
2.
Action:
l In addition to Item 1 above, pneumatic time delay relays intended for use in safety related systems and specifying a repeat accuracy range of i 15 percent or greater should be demonstrated to provide satisfactory operation.
You I
are requested to provide your basis for concluding that existing pneumatic time delay relays are functioning as required, or provide your plans to assure satisfactory operation.
Response
At Connecticut Yankee Agastat and Square "D" pneumatic time delay relays are used for this type of service.
Agastat specifies in their catalog a repeat accuracy range of i 10 percent, or less, for their pneumatic time delay relays.
The repeat accuracy range for Square "D" pneumatic time delay relays is unavailable.
l Both types of pneumatic time delay relays are periodically checked for setpoint settings under the Surveillance and Preventive Maintenance Programs at Connecticut Yankee.
Whenever a setpoint is found outside a prescribed tolerance band the setpoint is adjusted to its' correct setting.
Procedures will be reviewed and revised where necessary to consider the repeat accuracy of a pneumatic time delay relay, installed in a safety related system, whenever its' setpoint i
is found outside of its' prescribed tolerance band.
This I
action should be completed by September 1, 1977.
