IE Bulletin No. 78-02, dated January 30, 1978, Terminal Block Qualification (2)

D. C. Switzer letter to A. Schwencer dated February 2, 1978 (3) Dc C. Switz.er letter to A. Schwencer dated February 10, 1978 Haddam Neck Plant Terminal Block Qualification In reference (1) the Connecticut Yankee Atomic Power Company (CYAPCo) was requested to determine whether or not unprotected terminal blocks are used in systems which must function in the post-accident environ-I ment.

It was also requested that if such terminal blocks are used, CYAPCo was to identify the systems involved and provide the documen-tation which demonstrates that these terminal blocks have been environmentally qualified.

CYAPCo has determined that unprotected terminal blocks of the type that failed the screening test were installed in systems which must function in the post-accident environment. These blocks were sub-sequently replaced with Westinghouse blocks which were tested simul-l taneously, and passed the screening test. These blocks thus are l

qualified for environmental conditions by test and analysis.

The required documentation pertaining to IE Bulletin 78-02 has been forwarded in references (2) and (3).
