MEMORANDUM T0:
THE FILE
=$
SUBJECT:
PROPOSED LICENSE TO EXP0RT ZIRCONIUM TUBING TO THE UNITED KINGDOM AND WEST GERMANY, XCOM0526 On May 12,1981, General Electric Company filed an application to export 300 pieces of zirconium tubing to the United Kingdom and West Gemany. The tubing will be used in tcsts to determine whether General Electric tubing can be fabrica'.ed on the customers' processing equipment. All tubing will be returned to Gar.eral Electric.
The applicant has requested by telephone that an export license be issued on an emergency basis so that the tubes can be shipped before the end of May.
The staff has concluded that the proposed export meets the requirements of the Atomic Energy Act, as amended, and would not be inimical to the common defense and security of the United States.
In view of the above considerations, the staff issued this license without the normal 15-day waiting period.
