RESPONSE TO I. E. BULLETIN 81-02 POINT BEACH NUCLEAR PLANT UNITS 1 AND 2 g
This is in response to I. E.Bulletin 81-02 entitled " Failure of Gate Type Valves To Close Against Differential Pressure" which was issued on April 9,1981. The Bulletin pertains to the potential inability of specific Westinghouse - EMD and Borg-Warner motor-operated valves to close when required.
We have detarmined that the specific valves identified in the Bulletin have not been installed in safety-related piping cystems at the Point Beach Nuclear Plant. Further, none of the specified valves are presently being maird.ained as spares for future use in these systems.
As requested by the Belletin trarasmittal letter, we estimate that approximately ten (10) manhours were expended in developing this response.
We trust that this response satisfies the requirements of the Bulletin.
