SUBJECT:
Arkansas Nuclear One - Units 1 & 2 Docket Nos. 50-313 and 50-368 License Nos. DPR-51 and NPF-6 License Training Program for Reactor Operators and Senior Reactor Operators (File: 0483,2-0483)
Gentlemen:
In my letter of August 13, 1980, I stated that two Operations Training Coordinators were instructed that their highest priority was the Licensed Operator Requalification Training Program.
As a result of this action, we primarily used consultants for instructors in our Reactor Operator and Senior Reactor Operator license classes. However, due to the less than satisfactory results of our recent licensing exam-inations, it is imperative that we take immediate corrective action to
. improve our success rate.
For this reason, we are reassigning the consultants to the requalification training program and the two Opera-tions Training Coordinators to the license training effort.
During the license classes, the consultants were required to teach numerous lectures on different topics and, due to scheduling, insuffi-cient time was available for thorough preparation and research of subject material.
By assigning our consultants to the requalification training program, the schedule will allow more time for preparation and research of the requalification topics taught, plus the lectures will be given on a repetitive basis, thus reducing the number of dif-ferent topics they are required to teach.
I will continue to appraise you of significant actions in our nuclear training program.
