v NOTICE OF VICLATION Kansas Gas and Electric Company Docket No. STN 50-482 CPPR-147 J
As a result of the inspection conducted on March 9-13, 1981, and in accordance with Interim Enforcement Policy, 45 FR 66754 (Octobe-7,1980), the following violation was identified:
Failure to Follow Procedures for Receivino Inspection Criterion V of Appendix B to 10 CFR Part 50 requires that activities affecting quality shall be prescribed by documented procedures of a type appropriate to the circumstances, and shall be accomplished in accordance with these procedures.
Appendix I of Daniel International Corporation Receiving Inspection Procedure QCP-1-01, " Receipt, Storage and Preservation of Safety-Related Materials and Items," requires that receiving inspection verify that chemical and physical test reports meet the specified requirements and that physical properties conform to specification requirements.
Contrary to the above:
Receivina inspections did not verify whether the certified material test reports for certain bolting materials met the specified require-ments, in that, the reports were accepted but did not include the required heat treatment information.
This is a Severity Level V violation.

Pursuant to the provisions of 10 CFR Part 2.201, Kansas Gas and Electric Company is hereby required to submit te this offic), within 25 days of the date of this Notice, a written statement or explanaticr 'in reply, including: (1) the corrective steps which have been taken and the results achieved; (2) corrective steps which will be taken to avoid further violations; and (3) the date when full comoliance will be achieved.
Under the authority of Section 182 of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended, this response shall be submitted under oath or affirmation.
