LIMIT SWITCHES AT ELEVATED TEMPERATURES Y/
f NO. 1 AND 2 UNITS HOPE CREEK GENERATING STATION We replied to IE Bulletin No. 79-28, dated December 7,
- 1979, on February 6, 1980 and we now have additional information to report.
The bulletin warns of a potential malfunction of NAMCO Model EA180 limit switches at elevated temperatures.
The problem is caused by a defective top cover gasket and affects all i
NAMCO Model EA180 switches date coded between February 1979 and August 1979.

It has been determined that four suppliers for the Hope Creek l
Site have supplied or plan to supply the subject switches.
l Detail information pertinent to each procurement is noted below:
I 1.
Purchase Order J605(Q) - The NAMCO limit switches supplied l
by Fisher were not frcm the defective batch.
2.
Purchase Order J601(Q) - Masonellan replaced the gaskets coded between February and August 1979.
The switches have been marked with yellow paint on the switch housing next to the date code in question.

Purchase Orders P301(Q) and P302(Q) - Anchor / Darling shipped to Hope Creek valves having NAMCO EA180 switches.
A field check was made and the defective gaskets were replaced.
Valves still to be shipped will have the pro-per gaskets.

Purchase Order P303A(Q) - Rockwell will supply switches with proper gaskets.
