Dear Mr. Snyder:
([j The preliminary draft of the Environmental Impact State-ment concerning the Three Mile Island clean-up was issued on August 14, 1980.
At that time, Commissioner Punt and I expressed our concern to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission that Cumberland County was not receiving due consideration in the study's review of the socioeconomic impact of the clean-up.
l We stated then that, "The concerns and apprehensions of our citizens are no less than those in our sister counties.
The I
threat of evacuation is j ust as present in Cumberland County as any other county."
l All three Commissioners are pleased to note that the final report has given due notice to the concerns expressed in our l
letter.
While the preliminary report focused upon Dauphin, York and Lancaster Counties, the final report has included Cumberland and Lebanon Counties.
We applaud this recognition by the NRC of the definite impact of Three Mile Island upon the people of this County.
It is our hope that future NRC activities, reports and studies will continue to recognize this fact.
