Subject:
Detroit Edison Response to NRC IE Bulletin 80-16 The final report of our analysis and evaluations of the potential misapplication problem on Rosemount pressure transmitters, Medels 1151 and 1152, described in the subject bulletin is herein submitted as committed to in the referenced Detroit Edison letter.
A review of the safety-related Rosemount transmitter applications on the Fermi 2 design was performed as required by the referenced IE bulletin. A total of 106 Rosemount (Model 1151) transmitters were inspected by General Electric field personnel to verify the model number of equipment installed. As indicated by the General Electric FDDR KHl-724 summary, on file in this office, all of the trans-mitters were found to be output Code "E" devices which do not generate the anomalous output signals described in this IE bulletin.
In addition to the nuclear steam supply, Detroit Edison has reviewed the remainder of the plant's instrumentation to determine if any additional Rosamount 1151/1152 series transmitters have been included in the safety-related portions of the design.
The review indicated that eight Rosemount (Model 1152) transmitters with a "B"
output code have been specified for service in the Primary Containment Monitoring System (T50).
Detroit Edison has elected to replace the amplifier boards in these eight transmitters. These particular instruments are presently being modified to meet post TMl requirements and the amplifier board replacement will not significantly increase the total cost of the range change effort. The instrument designation of these Rosemount Model ll52's are T50-N401A & B, T50-N406A & B, T50-N414A & B, and T50-N415A & B.
Should you require additioncl information from Detroit Edison in this matter, please advise us.
Ver truly yours, f L a
