File 0262/0472/L-860.0/L-401.0 Status of Evaluation Concerning IE Bulletin 80-21

Reference:

AECM-81/001 AECM-81/91 Mississippi Power & Light Company has completed its review and evaluation of IE Bulletin 80-21 for the balance of plant portion of Grand Gulf Nuclear Station and determined that active valves in use or planned for use in safety-related systems do not have valve parts cast by Malcolm Foundry Company, Inc.

It is requested that Mississippi Power & Light Company be granted an additional sixty day extension for completion of the IE Bulletin 80-21 review and evaluation of the NSSS portion of Grand Gulf Nuclear Station so that General Electric can obtain responses from their suppliers of safety-related active valves. At that time, we will complete our response concerning IE Bulletin 80-21.
