SUBJECT:
BWR SCRAM DISCHARGE SYSTEM SAFETY EVALUATION - SUPPLEMENT 1 The enclosed report sumarizes the results of our further review and evaluation of the interim measures recommended in our safety evaluation report of December 1, 1980.
For this interim action we had recomended that an automatic air dump system be installed within two months.
We have since determined that the design, installa-tion and testing will require approximately 3 months. The enclosed supplement provides our basis for continued operation of affected BWRs while the appropriate modifications are being made.
We conclude that no undue risk attends continued operation for several months while the air system modifications are being implemented.
