Facility: Big Rock Point Plant, Charlevoix, Michigan

Identification of Occurrence: Rod drive withdrawn times less than 23-second Technical Specification limit.

5 Conditions Prior to Oc'eurrence: Reactor shut down for routine rod drive system tests and other minor repairs.

Description of Occurrence: During rod drive withdraw timing tests, lh drives exhibited withdrawal times of less than 23 seconds during testing at 170 F.

Designation of Apparent Cause of Occurrence: Exact cause is unknown.

Analysis of Occurrence: Based on our letters of November 1,1974 and s

July 1,1975 for a Technical Specification Change in this timing require-ment, we feel that no significant hazard exists for this deficiency.

9 Corrective Action: The drive timing valves were readjusted for proper timing prior to start-up of the reactor.
