NRC IE BULLETIN NO. 80-20 FAILURES OF WESTINGHOUSE TYPE W-2 SPRING RETURN TO NEUTRAL CONTROL SWITCHES NO. 1 AND 2 UNITS HOPE CREEK GENERATING STATION In reply to IE Bulletin No. 80-20 dated July 31, 1980, we offer the following at this time:
On September 3, 1980 we replied to the subject bulletin, as required, indicating that we were awaiting a response from our Architect Engineer, Bechtel Power Corporation, and expected to have our investigation of the bulletin completed at this time.
We have been informed that the investigation by Bechtel of their suppliers has not been completed.
Bechtel has eight contracts which may have Westinghouse W-2 spring return to neutral switches included.
Bechtel has received responses which indicate no problem with five contracts and is awaiting responses of the remaining three suppliers.
PSE&G shall pursue completion of the investigation and will respond to the NRC by December 19, 1980.
