Limits Letter Update (9/26/80)

(File: 3920, 2-3920)

Gentlemen:

Our letter of September 26, 1980, concerning the above subject con-tained an error which we are correcting via this letter.

It was stated in the reference letter that, "the Waste Gas Decay Tanks will be limited to 88 psig...".

This statement applies to ANO-1 only, because the ANO-2 system has a higher rating on the tank pressure capaci ty.

For the pressure values on the ANO 1 & 2 Waste Gas Decay Tanks we will limit the pressures to 66.5% of the relief valve setting which corresponds to 88 psig and 250 psig, respectively.

These values will again assure that in the highly unlikely event of a 9% hydrogen (upper limit allowed by the prc oosed H /02 limits) burn, 2

the relief valve settings would not be react ed. A 9% hydrogen burn is highly unlikely, because there is no knew source of ignition with enough energy to ignite the H2/02 mixture in the Waste Gas Systems at AN0 1 & 2.

Please note the above changes in your review of our September 26, 1980 letter to you.

Very truly yours, N(f David C. Trimble Manager, Licensing DCT: DY:1p 8e1027o gy me,.eea u.oo<e sour-u1,<,1,ee sveree
