Dear Mr. Seyfrit:
a i
River Bend Station Unit 1 j
Docket No. 50-458 On August 14, 1980, Gulf States Utilities Company verbally l
notified your staff of a potentially reportable deficiency with j
regard to an incorrect input in the calculations used to generate the Amplified Response Spectra (ARS) of the River Bend Station reactor building structures.
We have begun a detailed review and recalculation of the member forces and the ARS due to the hydro-dynamic forces in the suppression pool.
Preliminary indications are that none of the concrete structures presently built or released for construction are af fected by the incorrect input.
No equipment has yet been installed, and though some equipment may be installed, none will be released for use until the calculations and evaluation to verify the ARS are complete.
We will provide you an interim report by December 31, 1980, and expect to have completed our evaluation by April 1, 1981.
1 Sincerely, 4
