Writer's Direct Deal Nurrear October 6, 1980 TLL 503 TMI Program Office Attn:

Mr. John T. Collins, Deputy Director U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission c/o Three Mile Island Nuclear Statiq,9 Middletown, Pennsylvania 17057

Dear Sir:

Three Mile Island Nuclear Station, Unit 2 (TMI-2)

Operating License No. DPR-73 Docket No. 50-320 Disposal of EPICOR II and Low Activity SDS Ion Exchange Media The enclosed diagram presents the decision logic for disposal of EPICOR II and low activity SDS liners. We plan to proceed very deliberately in implementing this program to assure ourselves that present and near-ter=

future criteria wil?. be met.

Because there are numerous decisions in-volving both GPU and governmental agencies, each area of activity v1Ai be evaluated to determine the optimum 'ime for the performance of the activity.

Current review has indicated that the most probable near-term action relates to the solidification of low activity EPICOR II liners.

This transmittal fulfills our co=mitment established during the GPU/NRC meeting of August 20, 1980, to provide such a diagram.

Sincerely, j
