This letter is submitted in response to the subject IE Bulletin for the GNUPPS Utilities, Kansas Gas and Electric l
Company and Union Electric Company.
Mercury-wetted relays are not used in matrix logic ap-plication in the SNUPPS reactor trip circuitry. The only application of mercury-wetted relays in SNUPPS reactor trip circuitry is in the Westinghouse 7300 protection system equipment.
These relays are hermetically sealed and are used for temperature channel test inputs from resistor thermal. devices ; the relays are not used in scram circuits.
Therefore, no response is required to items 2 and 3 of the Bulletin.
Approximately 30 man-hours were expended in the conduct of the review required by this Bulletin.
