Subject:

Beaver Valley Power Station - U: lit No. 2 Docket No. 50-412 IE Bulletin No. 80-19, ReviPio.) 1 Failures of Mercury-Wetted Matrix Relays in Reactor Pro-tective Systems of Operating Nu: lear Power Plants Designed by Combustion Engineering Gentlemen:

We have reviewed Revision I to IE Bulletin No. 80-19 which clarifies the areas of concern of IE Bulletin No. 80-19.

My letter to you, " Failures of Mercury-Wetted Matrix Relays in Reactor Protective Systems of Operating Nuclear Powc: Plants Designed by Combustion Engineering" remains unchanged as the Weatinghouse Nuclear Energy Systems design uses dry-contact relays and does not use mercury-wetted relays in the Westinghouse Protection System.

The manpower expended in the review and preparation of this report required by this IE Bulletin is about three hours.
