APPLICANTS' RESPONSE TO PETITION OF LAKE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS AND LAKE COUNTY DISASTER SERVICES AGENCY On March 16, 1981, the Lake County Board of Commissioners and the Lake County Disaster Services Agency filed a " Petition For Leave To Intervene In The Licensing of The Perry Nuclear Power Plant." Counsel for Applicants has today been informed, in a telephone conversation with Donald J. Ezzone (Lake County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney) that the Board of Commissioners and the Disaster Services Agency seek to participate in this proceeding as representatives of an " interested county" pursuant l

to 10 C.F.R. 52. 715 (c) .

The NRC's Rules of Practice, at 10 C.F.R. 82.715(c),

afford the representatives of an interested State, county, municipality, and/or agencies thereof, a reasonable opportunity 2 50 d

to participate in NRC hearings, to introduce evidence, interrogate witnesses and advise the NRC without requiring the representativesto take a position with respect to the issues. Applicants support the participation of the Board of Commissioners and the Disaster Services Agency as the representatives of an interested county, pursuant to the provisions of 10 C.F.R. 82.715(c).
