MONTICELLO NUCLEAR GENERATING PLANT Docket No 50-263 License No DPR-22 PRAIRIE ISLAND NUCLEAR GENERATING PLANT Docket No 50-282 License No DPR-42 50-306 DP R-60 Control of Heavy Loads All licensees of operating plants were mailed a letter dated December 22, 1980 from Mr Eisenhut, Directo/ Division of Licensing, office of Nuclear Reacter Regulation, which transmitted NUREG-0612, " Control of Heavy Loads at Nuclear Power Plants-Resolution of TAP A-36".
The letter requested that the licensees implement certain interim actions described in Enclosure 2 as soon as possible but no later than 90 days f tom thc date of the letter.
It also requested submittal of reports documenting the results of licensee reviews of load handling operctions, and required changes and modifications, within six months and nine monthe from the de:e of the letter. A subsequent letter from Mr Eisenhut, dated Februa;r 3, 1981, extended the 90-day implementation requirement to May 15. ' U 1.
7 e BWR version of Mr Eisenut's December 22, 1980 letter was received on aanuary 13, 1981, and the PWR version was received on January 19, 1981.
Accordingly, it is NSP's intent to establish project schedules with target dates of July 13, 1981 and October 13, 1981 for the 6-month and 9-month submittals.
Based upon an initial review with our Monticello and Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant operating, maintenance and training personnel, we believe that we can implement the interim actions as described in Enclosure 2 to 810407O M

Other than the potential impracticability of marking load handling paths on the floors, we are not aware of any significant 2
difficulties in meeting the intent of the NRC request for interim actions on the schedule stated in the. previous sentence.
Should any dif ficul-ties arise in meeting certain portions of the recommendations or schedule, we will notify the NRC on a timely basis.
