Dear Mr. O' Reilly,
As defined by Technical Specifications for Connecticut Yankee Atomic Power Station Section 5.3 (a), the following information concerning an unsatisfactory test of one of three low pressurizer pressure trip units is hereby reported as an Abncrmal Occurrence.
In accordance with the surveillance requirements of Section 4.2 of the Connecticut Yankee Technical Specifications, pressurizer pressure instrument setpoints are tested every six weeks. During the pressurizer pressure surveillance test conducted June 20, 1974, one of the three low pressurizer pressure trip units operated approximately 15 psi beyond the acceptance criteria. A trip signal was inserted to satisfy the 1/2 logic required for full power operation. The faulty trip unit was replaced and will be bench tested to determine the cause of the incorrect trip setpoint. A follow-up report will be submitted in ten days.
Very truly yours, i
F. W. Hartley
