During an internal audit, it was discovered that one Surveillance Test had not been completed within the required interval. This is reportable per Fort S t.

Vrain Technical Specification AC 7.5.2(b)3.

EVENT

DESCRIPTION

During an internal audit of surveillances in December, 1980, it was discovered that SR 5.7.2b-A, the annual calibration and test of the fuel storage facility cooling system indicators and flow and temperature alarms, which was to be performed in November,1980, had not been completed since August 28, 1979.

There was spent fuel in storage at the time, but the surveillance was not issued due to the incorrect assumption that all spent fuel had been shipped off site.

CAUSE

DESCRIPTION:

The Results Engineering Supervisor incorrectly assumed all the spent fuel blocks had been shipped of f site and informed the Surveillance Clerk not to issue the Surveillance Test as scheduled.

CORRECTIVE ACTION:

The surveillance was issued and completed on December 24, 1980.

Test results disclosed no problems with the fuel storage facility cooling system.

No further corrective action is anticipated or required.
