Mr. Carl Walske, President V)D. < N '.

Atomic Industrial Forum 7101 Wisconsin Avenue Washington, D.C.

20014

Dear Mr. Walske:

This is in response to your letter of October 29, 1980, in which you expressed concern about the continuing viability of the nuclear power plant standard-ization program. Your expression of confidence in the continued and renewed interest in the program on the part of industry,is an important factor in the efforts to retain the standardization program in a viable form.

We agree with your recommendation and intend to administratively extend those PDAs that are about to expire.

If a utility's application referencing an extended PDA is received, it would be reviewed against current requirements.

Consequently, we would expect that the PDA would be updated at that time, including the requirements associated with TMI-2.

,, Sincerely,

/.
