FAILURES OF WESTINGHOUSE TYPE W-2 g
SPRING RETURN TO NEUTRAL CONTROL SWITCHES NO. 1 AND 2 UNITS HOPE CREEK GENERATING STATION In reply to IE Bulletin No. 80-20 dated July 31, 1980, we offer the following at this time:
On September 3, 1980 and November 14, 1980, we supplied interim reports to the NRC indicating that the investigation being conducted by Bechtel Power Corporation, our Architect Engineer, was continuing.
It was reported that Dechtel was surveying its suppliers to determine use of the subject switches.
Bechtel has received answers from all vendors except the "Q" HVAC vendor that Westinghouse Type W-2 control switches with l
spring return to neutral position are not being used or planned for use at the Hope Creek Generating Station.
To date, none of the "Q" HVAC panels have been approved and they will not be approved by PSE&G if they contain the Westinghouse W-2 switch.
