Dear Mr Ahearra:
I would like to take this opportunity to express my opinion concerning nuclear energy in general aM D1I in specific.
Nuclear energy has inherent risks - as does any human endeam r.
- However, when ecx: paring the risks involved for the benefits received, nuclear energy is a nust - eswin11y in Michigan.
As for D!I, it is my understanding that in tezrs of safety syste:rs, D1I-1 is substantinny different frtra D1I-2. DiI-1 in fact is sirilar to nuclear generating units presently in operation. -Yet, the NPC Fas procrastinated in pemitting DiI-l to allow to operate. It reeds to be restarted without tlay.
I am sure that you are completely aware of each side of not only tFa ntriear energy issue, but DiI as well. In the fact that you have chosen the NFC as your career, your intellectual syr pathies rest cn the side of the jMirinus use of this power source.
I, then,,would urge you not to allcw the myopic myth of a risk-free environment to sway sound judgment.
Yours very truly, h
}t I
