(a) Letter from R. A. Clark to A. E. Lundvall, Jr.
dated December 12, 1980.
(b) Telephone conversation of 12/17/80 between A. R. Thornton, BG&E and E. L. Conner,!iRC.
Gentlemen:
This letter is to inform you of our intentions for control of the Peactor Coolant Vent System (RCVS) during operation of Unit 1 and prior to review and approval of operating procedures for the RCVS.
'4e vill deenergize the valve operating solenoids by opening and tagging a pair of sliding links in the control room.
This method of control is superior to those previously proposed, because while isolating power from the solenoids, continuous valve position indication for the RCVS is maintained. The system can then ba made connletely operational, when authorized, by closing the links while observing proper procedures.
'"his method of operation meets the intent of paragraph 2.8 of Reference (a), and has received verbal concurrence from Mr. E. L. Conner of ?!EC (Reference (b)).
Very truly. 'rs,
