Dear Sir:
A Limiting Condition for Operation (LCO) 3.7.9 of the Trojan Technical Specifications, requires that a Special Report be provided in the event a three-hour penetration fire barrier is determined not to be functional for seven days or greater. Modifications to the Trojan Plant Control Building walls require penetration of the floor to the Electrical Auxiliary Room at. elevation 65' of the Control Building in the vicinity of N' line. This letter represents the initial notification and follow-up report as required by the Technical Specifications. Work on strengthening the Control Building wall requires that the floor slab at elevation 65' be penetrated. While this fire barrier is nonfunctional an hourly roving fire watch patrol will inspect the Electrical Auxiliary Room. Products of combustion smoke detectors in the Electrical Auxiliary Room have been verified to be operable. Temporary fire barriers will be provided where possible to provide additional protection against potential fire spread. It is anticipated that the barrier will be returned to a functional status in about seven weeks, upon completion of N' wall. The work plan requires an inspection hold point for performance of the required visual inspections prior to returning the fire barrier to a functional status. Sincerely, C. t.
