Dear Mr. Keppler:
Reference (a) transmitted IE Bulletin 80-21 requesting a response concerning potentially faulty valve parts cast by Malcolm Foundry Company, Incorporated.
Commonwealth Edison has directly contacted our safety-related valve suppliers to determine if they may have used any valve carts cast by the company in question.
The results of our survey inuicate that for Dresden, Quad Cities, and Zion Stations, no active valves in use or planned for use in safety-related systems have been found to have valve parts cast by Malcolm Foundry Company, Incorporated.
This information is considered to be sufficient to complete the requested response.
These results will be double-checked, however, and the NRC will be notified should any valve be found to contain the potentially faulty material.
