I am pleased to report that, in the staff's opinion, the New York City Department of Health's radiation control program is adequate to protect the public *ealth and safety and is compatible with the program of the Nuclear Regulatory Commisison. We comend the staff's progress in responding to our comments and recommendations.

Enclosed is a copy of our letter to Dr. Solon conveying technical comments on the program.

I am enclosing a second copy of each letter which should be placed in the City's Public Document Room or otherwise be made avail-able for public review.

I appreciate the courtesy and cooperation extended to Mr. Lubenau.
