~ PROPOSED PLAN FOR DEVELOPING' A SAFETY GOAL (COMMISSIONER ACTION ITEM)

This is to advise you that the Commission (with three Commissioners approving and Commissioner Gilinsky disapproving) has approved the proposed plan for the development of a safety goal described in the subject paper and the proposed Federal Register. Notice (FRN) subject to the following modifications:

1.

Page 8, paragraph 3 - chang'e statement concerning submittal of final policy paper to read as follows:

A policy paper within a year of submittal of this plan, which will include alternatives to meet the stated objective."

2.

Page 11, Task III, paragraph A.

Criteria, sub-paragraph 1 - Insert at end of paragraph an additional question to read:

"How useful is it?"

3.

Page 12, Task III, paragraph B.

Frameworks, sub-paragraph 3, first line - change to read:

" Narrow down to a few significant and usable approach options...".

4.

Page 14, paragraph 6.

Organization - The ACRS participant should me an ACRS staff member.
