This responds to your information request.
In our present view, the near-term staff requirements, aimed primarily i
toward the Preliminary Policy Paper due December 29, 1980 are as follows:
1.
Certain ongoing efforts, notably in RES and NRR, are described in Enclosurer 1 and 2 of SECY-80-379.
We are counting on receiving the indicated outputs and interim outputs of those efforts.
2.
Deliberations of the Steering Group will be required in connection with l
their coordinating and advisory role.
3.
Direct written inputs to be made.to the Preliminary Policy Paper w'll be generally limited to highlights or sumaries of items 1 and 2, in terms of work description, results, and rationale.
4.
Additional. items may be proposed by the Steering Group or its individual members.
For the overall project, including work aimed coward the Policy Paper due in August 1981, we expect that the Steering Group will identify any areas likely to require additional resources, as required by the last paragraph of the Secretary's October 14 memo.
(The SECY suspense date for this is No'vember 12,1980.)
