The emergency fire water pump was removed f rom service to repack a leaking

- pump gland.. This situation constitutes operation in a degraded mode of LCO 4;2.6 and is reportable :per Fort St. Vrain Technical Specification AC 7.5.2(b)2.

EVENT

DESCRIPTION

On November 10, 1980, the emergency fire water pump was. reported to have.ex-cessive pump gland leakage, which did not render et 2 pump inoperable..On November 12,.1950, while operating at 40%. thermal power, the pump-was taken out of service and the gland repacked.

. The emergency fire water pump was out of service f rom 0530 hours0.00613 days <br />0.147 hours <br />8.763227e-4 weeks <br />2.01665e-4 months <br /> until

- 1445 hours0.0167 days <br />0.401 hours <br />0.00239 weeks <br />5.498225e-4 months <br /> on November 12, 1980.

CAUSE

DESCRIPTION:

The cause of this event was the removal from service of the emergency fire water pump.for repacking of the pump gland while the reactor was at power.

CORRECTIVE -

ACTION:

Upon completion of the pu=p gland repacking, the pump was returned to service.

No further corrective action is anticipated or required.
