Dear Mr. O'Reilly:

On 10/23/80, Mr. John K. Rausch of NRC Region II was notified of a potential significant deficiency on the subject: Separation of Westinghouse Circuits. The report was made by Mr. J. A. Wactor.

Due to a difference in philosophy in separation methods between the NSSS supplier and the architect engineers, some mis-matches have shown up in the color coding of cables. The problem mainly concerns associated citcuits routed to cabinets with safety related circuits. Some circuits

, termed non safety related by the NSSS supplier were conservatively' routed associated circuits by the architect engineers.

I This items is still under evaluation by SCE&G. At first, individual circuits were evaluated as they were discovered, but due to the diversity of the systems being investigated, it was decided that a comprehensive review of the various interfaces was required. This review is presently in the final stages. Completion is expected by 12/15/80 and a final. report should be issued thereafter.
