Dear lle. licQueen:

Your letter dated August 11, 1980 commented on Proposed Revision 2 to Regulatory Guide 1.97 Specifically, you referred to a position in the guide which states, "to the extent practical and feasible, accident monitor-ing instrumentation inputs should be from sensors that directly measure the desired variables", and suggested that this provision should be greatly strengthened and expanded. You also gave several examples of where this provision was not followed when it could have been. You further suggested a modification to the guide which addressed ycur concern.

Your suggestion is appreciated and the guide has been modified to strengthen the position.

Thank you for your interest in the regulatory guide development process.
