Dear Dr. Berringer:

This is in reply to your letter requesting information regarding funding g

for the development of training programs for nuclear xner plant personnel.

Presently, the development of training programs is the responsibility of the industry. 'Ihe NRC does not provide funds for this purpose.

However, we have contracted with a cmpany to study the present methods of selection, training and licensing nuclear power plant personnel. 'Ihe final report is scheduled for November 1980.

Should the recomendations of the report indicate we should beccan involved in the development of training programs and we issue a Request for Proposals we will assure that you receive a copy of the request.
