Dear Mr. O'Reilly:

I. E.Bulletin 80-19, entitled " Failures of Mercury-Wetted Matt f-Relays in Reactor Protective Systems of Operating Nuclear Power Plants Designed by Combustion Engineering," requested that each licensee and each holder of a construction permit determine whether or not mercury-wetted relays were used in the Reactor Protection System in their facilities.

In accordance with this request, Alabama Power Company conducted a review of the Reactor Protection Systems at Farley Nuclear Plant Units 1 and 2.

It was determined that no mercury-wetted relays were utilized in the Reactor Protection System in either Unit 1 or 2 at Farley Nuclear Plant.

If you have any further questions, please advise.

Yours very truly, 9
