This is in response to IE Bulletin 80-15 regarding investigat'ons, tests and action in connection with the Emergency Notification System.

As required in item one of the Bulletin, on June 25, 1980, tia days after receipt of the Bulletin, the Lynchburg Research Center (LRC) by dire tion inspection with representatives of the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Comptny of Virginia deter-mined that the ENS at the LRC is powered in the manner speci fled in enclosure 2 of the Bulletin. The system is provided with back-up power iy a battery which is rated for eight hours should site power be lost. No modi.ication of the system has been made in connection with item two of the Bullttin.

Normal site power was interrupted on July 5. 1980 in connectica with a regularly scheduled maintenance procedure. During this power outage ecc. ENS unit was tested for proper operation, no difficiencies were noted. Alth, ugh it was not required by item three of the Bulletin, I feel that this action tested the proper operation of the system to the fullest extent.
