Docket No. 50-320 AUG S 15?G The Honorable Richard S. Schweiker United States Senate Washington, D. C.

20510

Dear Senator Schweiker:

This letter is provided in response to your note dated May 23, 1980.

In your note you forwarded a letter dated May 12, 1980, from your constituent Mr. Frank R. Romano of the Air and Water Pollution Patrol. Mr. Romano, a pilot, expressed his concern about the release of krypton-85 from the Three Mile Island Facility which occurred on April 23, 1980.

Since Mr. H. R. Denton (Director, Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation) has already replied to an almost identical letter from Mr. Romano, I have enclosed Mr. Denton's letter for your information.

I hope this responds adequately to your request.

Sincerely, (Signed) E. Kevin Cornell William J. Dircks, Acting Executive Director for Operations
