Subject:

Quad Cities Station Unit 2 Proposed Amendment to Facility Operating License DPR-30 and Appendix A, Technical Specifications, to Implement 10 CFR 50.59 Reload Licensing NRC Docket No. 50-265 References (a): C. Reed letter to Director of Nuclear Reactor Regulation dated August 30, 1979 (b): D. L. Peoples letter to Director of Nuclear Reactor Regulation dated October 24, 1979

Dear Sir:

References (a) and (b) transmitted our proposed amendment to Facility Operating License DPR-30 and Appendix A, Technical Specifications, to permit future reload reviews at Quad Cities Unit 2 to be performed by Commonwealth Edison Company in accordance with 10 CFR 50.59 requirements.

This proposed amendment incorporated the ability to adjust the APRM gains to compensate for off-normal core peaking factors.

As a result of telephone conversations with the NRC Staff, we have decided to eliminate the APRM gain adjustment option from the proposed amendment.

If conditions warrant, we may submit croposed amendments in the future to incorporate the APRM gain adjustment capability.

For your convenience, we have enclosed revised copies of the affected pages with the APRM gain adjustment sections removed.

These pages are a direct replacement for the same pages previously transmitted in References (a) and (b).
