ATOMIC SAFETY AND LICENSING APPEAL PANEL WASHINGTON, D.C. 20555 August 15, 1980 James N. Christman, Esquire Hunton & Williams 707 East Main Street P.O. Box 1535 Richmond, VA 23212 Daniel T.
Swanson, Esquire Office of the Executive Legal Director U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D.C.
20555 Re:
In the Matter of Virginia Electric and Power Company (North Anna Nuclear Power Station, Units 1 and 2),
Docket Nos. 50-338 OL, 50-339 OL Gentlemen:
As you are aware, this operating license proceeding involving the North Anna facility remains before the Appeal Board on the turbine missile issue.
See ALAB-589, 11 NRC 539 (1980).
One of the members of that Board, Michael C.
Farrar, has resigned his position as a permanent legal mem-ber of the Appeal Panel to enter private employment.
He thus no longer is available for service on the Board.
For the time being, Mr. Rosenthal and Dr. Buck will act under the quorum rule upon any matters which might come before the Board.
At a later date, should it then appear to be desirable, the Appeal Panel Chairman may assign another Panel member to the Board in Mr. Farrar's stead.
Sincerely, c.
W C. Jean Bishop Secretary to the Appeal Board cc:
