Gentlemen:

The purpose of this letter is.two-fold. First, to offer my j

apologies M not being present .at the April 28, 1972 pre-hearing conference. The second, and more important reason is that the 1- axecutive. board of the Midland Nuclear Power Committee has urged me to respectfully-request'the Board.that it use every means at its command to commence the oral hearing on schedule and to expedi-l tiously and diligently keep the hearing in as continuious session l as possible until the pertinent environmental and radiological

. questions have been ade'quately aired. The ninety-plus percent of those persons residing in the Midland area who strongly favor the

_. construction.of the Midland plants, hope that a favorable decision by the Board will.be made in the near future. We fervently appeal, l therefore, that all parties cooperate fully to the end, that the hearings be commenced on schedule, carried on steadfastly, and com-pleted within a reasonable period of time.

Sincerely, CURRIE AND KENDALL JAK/ss James A. Kendall cci William J. Gins'ter,'Esq. Robert Lowenstein, -Esq.
