This letter is General Electric's comment on the m
schedule proposed on April 17, 1981, for resumption of this proceeding by the NRC Staff.
General Electric has, on more than one occasion, indicated its concern regarding the length of time which has transpired since this proceeding was initiated.
The NRC Staff suggests in its proposed schedule that there be an additional six week delay between issuance of the NRC Staff's Safety Evaluation Report and the filings for motions for summary disposition.
The NRC Staff, in its proposed schedule, provides no reason for this lengthy delay and General Electric believes no legitimate cause exists.
1 It should be apparent'that the Safety Evaluation Report for this license renewal will contain little information not already documented during the previous, nine years of operation of the Morris Operation.
To provide a six week delay following the issuance of the report, prior to submittal of motions for su= mary disposition, is completely unnecessary.
Accordingly, General Electric submits that the schedule initially proposed by it on April 7, 1981 should be entered.
Sincere y yours, Q kRVh NA Mat
