Unit 1 - FSAR Appandix J h,.x fj Silt Prevention
Dear Mr. Denton:
This letter will confirm a conversation between Mr. H.C. Brinkman:
of CG&E and Mr. G.B. Staley of the NRC for April 29, 1981.
The silt prevention plans as discussed in the Zimmer FSAR Appendix J call for an intermediated pumping station (i.e.a pump) located at the top of the intake flume wall which will pump silt slurry from the intake flume to the settling basis.
In the above conversation CG&E committed to have a backup pump available and stored so as to be protected from the 546' elevation maximum probable flood.
CG&E also committed to move the operating pump from the top of the intake flume for storage at higher elevations if the river should approach the 510' " Top of Flume" elevation. The NRC agreed silt removal' operations could be discontinued during such periods.
FSAR Appendix J will be revised as indicated above in the May revision to the FSAR. A copy of the planned revision is attached for reference.
Very truly yours, The Cincinnati Gas'& Electric Company fmw_ h. Y ByJames D. Flynn cc: Service List 810504o,sQ p
