Dear Mr. Schonfeld:
This in in response to your letter of March 11g 1981 in which you' requested,-
pursuant to the Freedom of Information-Act, copie of doct.ments pertaining to the use of animals in research projects conducted or fanded by the NRC.
As we explained in our February 4.1981 response to you, the NRC does not naintain a listing of research projects by animal type or species.
The manner in which projects are retrieved is by contractor name.
In addition, the NRC does not compile any documents similar to the one you described for the U. S. Department of Agriculture.
Enclosed =for your information is an excerpt from the USNRC 1979 Annual Report which discusses briefly the types of research projects undertaken by the NRC in 1979.
This completes NRC action on your request.
