IE Bulletin 78-01 This is in response to IE Bulletin No. 78-01 concerning Flammable Contact-Am Retainers in General Electric CR120A Relays.
There are approximately 290 GE CR120A relays either installed or in spares inventory in Millstone Unit 1, of which approximately 75 are installed in safety-related equipment. The balance are used in non-safety-related equipment for general alam purposes and are located in areas separate from safety-related equipment.
~ In an attempt to detemine the date of manufacture of the relays difficulty was experienced due to the location of the manufacturer's date code, therefore, it will be assumed that all CR120A relays within Millstone Unit 1 contain the Celcon contact-am retainers.
Development cf a procedure and replacement of the Celcon retainers will be completed at the next outage of at least two weeks duration following availability of the replacement retainers from General Electric.
Based on anticipated material delivery dates, it is estimated that replacement will be completed by April 30, 1978.
