Dear Mr. Grier:
Pursuant to Connecticut Yankee Environmental Technical Specifications (ETS),
Section 3.1.1.3, Connecticut Yankee Atomic Power Company hereby fc.rwards the following report regarding fish impingement overruns.
An estimated 2721 and 5170 Common Shiners (Notropic corr. utis) O to 3", and 3" to 6" length categories respectively, were impinged as of January 29, 1978, thereby exceeding the monthly limits of 100 for the 0-3" class, and 120 for the 3" to 6" class as set forth in Environmental Technical Specifications, Table 3.1-1.
There was no apparent cause for these occurrences which could be related to changes in plant operations.
The common shinner, described in the literature as a small, schooling, forage-type It is felt that fish, has been impinged almost exclusively in the winter season.
the seasonal temperature changes which occur at this time of year contribute to the increased impingement of this species.
Very truly yours, lef L~~
